What is Evergreen Indiana?
Evergreen Indiana is a growing network of over 100 libraries that use the Evergreen software to allow patrons of member libraries to view the catalogs of other libraries and to borrow materials from them using their Evergreen library card. Patrons will enjoy access to a collection of over 5 million items. This switch will allow the Van Buren Public Library to meet State Library standards and save money over the long term.
Benefits for Van Buren Patrons
Patrons will receive an Evergreen library card at no cost. Replacement cards cost $2.
Overdue fines for all materials will be calculated at $0.25 per day, per item, with a $10.00 cap per item. Total fines will not accumulate more than $10.00
Once the $10.00 cap has been reached, patrons must pay some of the fine in order to check out more items.
Evergreen will automatically remind patrons by email when their items will be due and when items are past due.
Patrons can set up their account in Evergreen and place holds on items from other libraries in order to have them shipped to VBPL. This can also be done by one of our library assistants.
Patrons can now place holds on DVDs from other libraries and have them shipped to VBPL. *Not all Evergreen libraries are participating in this new program*
