July 2, 2014 Job Posting – Van Buren Public Library Director
Description – The Van Buren Public Library is seeking a Library Director. It is an Indiana Class C Public Library serving a population of under 10,000. The Library Director is responsible to the board of trustees for the operation and management of all library services and administration. These include administering library business, formulating policies, bookkeeping, submitting required reports to the Indiana State Library and Indiana State Board of Accounts, supervising employees, purchasing, and overseeing collection development, cataloging, technology, and the care and maintenance of the building and grounds. The director will be expected to promote excellent public program services and maintain professional relationships with schools, civic organizations and other community entities.
Benefits – This position offers no health insurance or retirement benefits.
Qualifications – The candidate will have to hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree with an Indiana Librarian Certificate 4 (LC4) or have the ability to meet the requirements for that level of certification.
Salary – Commensurate with qualifications and experience and is based upon a 33 hour work week.

The Van Buren Public Library serves the residents of Van Buren Township. Local residents have been enjoying the library’s resources since 1919. VBPL was established with a donation from the Carnegie Foundation. We are still operating in the original Carnegie building.
