Free Scrapbooking Classes

The Van Buren Public Library is offering a FREE 3-session scrapbooking course taught by Annette “Annie” Lucas. This course is perfect for those that have never scrapbooked before and would like to start, or for those that are well versed in scrapbooking, but would like to gain more ideas and tips.

The classes will start in January. The day and time will be announced later to accommodate everyone’s availability. Come to the library and sign up for the class and be sure to pick up your information packet. Ages 15 and UP are welcome to take this class.


It is not necessary to bring supplies to the first class. However, you will need to bring pictures (no more than 6 or 7), plus anything you would like to include such as, post cards, ticket stubs, brochures, or anything else you have to show case the event. If you do own a 12-inch paper trimmer or scrapbook adhesive, please feel free to bring them with you.

The first class with consist of scrapbook basics and a hands-on opportunity to start making your first page or two. Twenty minutes of discussion and viewing materials will start the class, and the remainder of the time will be for working on your pages.

Winter Reading Program 2017

The library will be offering a Winter Reading Program this year for kids to adults themed “Chill out and Read”. It will be a 6 week program in which readers are able to earn various prizes. The program will officially start the week of January 9, 2017 and will go till February 18, 2017. January 2 to January 7, 2017 will be the week everyone can come into the library and sign up for the program. Readers are able to attend special library programs during this time to earn extra tickets that can be used in the drawing of prizes, including our grand prize. More information regarding this is available at the library.

The library is hiring!

The library is now looking to hire a part-time assistant to work anywhere from 10 to 12 hours a week. If you are interested, please stop by the library and pick up an application!

Story Time has been cancelled!

Due to all of the upcoming holidays, Story Time has been cancelled. We will let you know in advance for when Story Time will start back up again.
